We’ve all been in this season of survival mode.
How are we going to do that? How are we going to make ends meet? What’s going to happen with my job? Is it time to reinvent myself? Should I sell my business? Should I start a business? Should I homeschool? Should I send my kids back to school? How do I stay healthy? Did I wash my hands? Where did I leave my mask?!
So many questions, so much uncertainty. It’s living in a constant state of questioning that we don’t even realize that we’re operating in survival mode. Trying to get through just one more day in order to get to the next. Or like I’ve seen and heard all over the Internet, when will 2020 be over?
It’s easy to think that things survive because the environment it’s in, or because everything stays the same. But what I’ve found is that nothing can be further from the truth. Thriving and living beyond survival mode comes from a deliberate choice. A deliberate choice to stand for what you believe in, to be confident in who God created you to be, and to live your life in service of others even when sometimes it’s in direct detriment to yourself.
I’m not saying to be a martyr, not at all. What I’m saying is, you get to choose how long you will stand. You get to choose who you will be, and you get to choose how long what you long for will remain out of reach. Maybe you’re struggling with confidence or believing that you are in fact good enough. I encourage you to read my book on identity. It can be found here.
Something that I’ve sensed more and more recently is that survival is not the goal. John 10:10 tells us that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy but Jesus came so that we may have life and have it to the full, that we may have it abundantly.
Survival mode is not abundance.
Survival mode is living in fear. Survival mode is living in complacency. Survival mode is trying to figure out how to make things happen for yourself.
But abundance, abundance comes from the hand of the Father. Abundance comes from knowing that even when things don’t make sense He is right there, He is on your side, and He is working all things for your good. So let’s not continue to live in survival mode. Okay? There is so much ahead for you and for me, let’s step in and believe it.
